
When it comes to culinary delights, no other region in the world offers so much diversity in terms of dishes and food culture than Asia. Of these, the more well-known dishes come from Japan, China and India. Today, dishes coming from Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, and Malaysia are also gradually finding their way to restaurant tables all across the world. The variety of Asian food represented by dishes, such as Satay, Sushi, Tom Yum and so on, speaks of the diverse cultures that have formed throughout Asia. Japanese Sushi
Perhaps the most popular culinary tradition to have come out from Asia is Japanese cuisine, and of all the dishes it offers, sushi is the most well-loved dish throughout the world. This popular delicacy has a high-class status mainly because of the quality of ingredients used and the skill required to prepare it. Although it has many variations, the basic ingredients are sticky rice, Japanese vinegar, seaweed or nori, soy sauce, and an assortment of fillings, including raw fish, egg, vegetables, and pork, to name a few. Of course, no sushi serving will be complete without a bit of wasabi to liven up each bite. Among all variants of Asian food, sushi is considered a work of art as well due to the careful work rendered by master sushi chefs who deftly prepare these.
Thailand’s Spicy Tom Yum
Thai cuisine is known for its extensive use of spices that make each dish mildly hot, spicy, or extra hot. Tom yum is characterized by its sour but spicy taste, pungent aroma, and heavy use of lemon grass and tamarind, which produce the sour factor in each bowl of tom yum. It usually comes with a healthy serving of toppings, such as meat, oyster, squid, chicken or fish. This kind of Asian food can be served as an appetizer, a thin soup, or even as a main dish, depending on the consistency and ingredients used and whether or not it is served with rice.
Vietnamese Spring Rolls
On the savory side, Vietnamese spring rolls are also known for their exquisite taste and presentation. These consist mainly of a variety of fillings that include a combination of vegetables (carrot, bean sprouts, mushrooms); meat (chicken, pork); and vermicelli noodles all wrapped up in a kind of thin rice pastry that becomes transparent when deep-fried. The combined effect of the crunchy outer shell and sumptuous, tender filling make each bite a heavenly delight. Indeed, this kind of Asian food is rated as a top appetizer or even a main dish in various Asian restaurants throughout the world.
